If you’ve been chasing that P.T. feeling ever since Konami pulled the plug on Kojima’s playable teaser, mark your calendar: Baptiste is coming this fall, and early looks suggest it’s leaning hard into that same slow-burn, first-person dread.
What happened
Digital Dreams and Firenut Games have officially confirmed Baptiste, a psychological horror title built around the kind of claustrophobic, hallway-by-hallway tension that made P.T. a cult classic almost a decade ago. The game is set to release this fall across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and — notably — Switch 2, putting Nintendo’s new console in the same release window as the more traditional horror platforms for once.
Why it matters
P.T. comparisons get thrown around a lot in horror marketing, but they usually don’t stick. What makes Baptiste worth watching is the timing: horror fans have been starving for a proper spiritual successor since Silent Hills got cancelled, and no big studio has really nailed that specific “trapped in a loop, something’s wrong with this house” formula since. Landing day-one on Switch 2 is also a bigger deal than it sounds — horror games with heavy atmosphere and lighting work don’t usually make it to Nintendo hardware in the same release cycle as PlayStation and Xbox, so this could be an early signal that Switch 2 is finally capable of running that kind of game without major compromises.
What to expect
Details are still light, which is honestly on-brand for this genre — the best horror reveals tend to hold their cards close. Expect the marketing to keep drip-feeding short, unsettling clips rather than a full gameplay breakdown, much like the original P.T. rollout. What we do know is the platform spread: PS5, Xbox Series, Switch 2, and PC, all this fall, no early access window mentioned yet.
My take: cross-platform day-one horror releases are still rare enough that this is worth keeping on your radar even before a proper trailer drops. Baptiste has an easy narrative to sell — “the P.T. successor that actually shipped” — and if Digital Dreams and Firenut Games deliver even half of that promise, this could be one of the fall’s more talked-about horror drops.
